Our Story:

Angels' founder, David Paur, finally launched the Angels Community Support Network in November of 2001. The original intent, which still plays a large part today, was to act as a charity support network. David Paur discovered through his twenty-plus years in recovery and change (his own resume reads: “From the Boardroom to Skid Row and Back”) that there were many charities suffering due to government budget cuts. The results were dramatically reduced services and even more of the afflicted and needy were falling through the cracks! There were many great agencies and wonderful people working tirelessly in heroic fashion to make up the difference and to make a difference, but now, they too needed a hand up. Disease and addictions were on the rise and the afflicted, more often hurt, confused and bewildered, needed to find the right help and they needed it now! But the question was always the same, where to start?

The beginning: David Paur, wondering himself where he fit in his new life, was asked to help with a fundraiser. They were looking for items to auction off at the event and time was now a factor. Having little else on his plate at the time and with a heart to serve the poor, David jumped in. But nervously he wondered; did he still have connections? Would anyone even remember him, favourably? After all it had been many years and there had been some muddy water pass under his bridge.

Here and now the spirit of Angels was formed. To David’s surprise the reception from old business acquaintances and new connections was outstanding! He now knew he had found his niche, his gift was one of exceptional resourcefulness and even some influence and he decided to use these tools to forever serve the poor and needy. Thus, the launch of angels.

Seven years later finds the Angels Community Support Network alive and well and growing. This growth alone creates its own set of continuing problems. Like a child who keeps growing out of his clothes, Angels keeps growing into new values and services resulting in the need for new expertise, equipment and many more people. But God is good. Angels has been blessed with many gifted writers, stories from those in healing and recovery, professionals in many fields who contribute in direct ways and a strong set of “hands on” support from The Angels Operations Team and more recently the wonderfully dedicated "Angels Response Team".

Angels’ purpose is still the same, to help people. Angels Community Support Network seeks to become the one-stop reliable and trusted place to find real help now and to inform, inspire and share the journey to good health and recovery. Just as it takes a village to raise a child, it takes a community in unity to make a real difference.

Our Mission:

  • To connect: the public, our community of caregivers, special businesses and other visitors together under one domain offering
a one-stop, simple, uncluttered place to go to get real help and great information in B.C.
  • To inform: through Inform Magazine & Addictions in the Workplace, we wish to offer a fresh new voice in the spirit of unity and grace, extending the benefits of sharing testimonies and editorials through the voices of “experienced and extraordinary” people in areas of recovery, care and concern.
  • To inspire: by playing a vital role in creating a solid foundation for healing, fresh hope for the afflicted, sharing information, ideas & resources, increasing care and giving and finally spreading the truth and good news of current good works and plans for the future.

Our Beliefs:

As much as Dr. Patch Adams successfully adds laughter to healing, we strongly suggest the inclusion of Spirituality, Fellowship and Mentoring as personal cornerstones. These vital ingredients highlight that as healthy change starts on from inside, it is cemented through new friends, active examples and patient advisors.

Our team embraces a foundation without judgment, of mercy & grace, covenant love, and a firm belief that together in harmony so much more can be accomplished for mankind. Our first focus must be as servants, united in community for those we are privileged to serve.
