The Canadian Disabled Individuals Association (CDIA) was founded on behalf of all disability with the intent to create an inclusive, grass roots organization founded and driven by disabled individuals which is free from obligation and bias as a result of politics or specific interests.

We are a fully registered charitable organization (BN 88935 8818 RR0001) with our first focus on and for British Columbians. Of course we are all family and welcome all people, disabled or otherwise to join in our journey of new community and understanding.

We have three primary goals.

The first is to provide a complete Directory of Resources focused primarily on Non-Profit service providers in British Columbia and Marketplace Resources first in British Columbia and across Canada.

The second and equally important, is to provide our disabled community in British Columbia a real voice in order to inform, inspire an educate each other and the general public of the living and many values of those who are disabled.

The third is to encourage unity and community within our disabled community, the general public, our governments and leaders and those in service to the disabled, including the Non-Profit/Health Care and Marketplace providers.

The Canadian disabled individuals Association is promoting the establishment of a “province wide, seamless, transparent and voluntary identification card for people with invisible and permanent disabilities. This card would benefit the disabled community and able-bodied communities by providing a method of communication between people. This card will also provide a data bank to the shared among various emergency services.
    2/25/2008 - FDI Accessibility Rating
It was felt that accessibility in the eyes of a disabled individual vs. the view by an able bodied person differs. Property is generally constructed to the minimums set out by building codes. We will offer a five-star rating specific to Accessibility to be used as a standard set BY DISABLED INDIVIDUALS.

More info can be viewed in the following PDF. FDI Vision
