The mission of the BCCEWH is to improve the health of women by fostering collaboration on innovative, multi-disciplinary research endeavours and action-oriented approaches to women's health initiatives, women-centred programs, and health policy. We pay particular attention to policy that will improve the health status of women who are marginalised and who face multiple disadvantages in health due to socio-economic status, race, culture, age, sexual orientation, geography, disability, and/or addiction.

Wish List: The doctors, nurses and medical staff of BC Women's Hospital & Health Centre have a long "wish list" of equipment they need to provide the best care possible to patients and families. Beauty Night Society is a non-profit, volunteer-based organization that provides makeovers and other wellness programs to marginalized adults and youth. Our programs provide tools for clients to increase their self-esteem and find the inner strength to make positive change in their lives.

he PACE model seems to be a good one for direct services to this highly specialized and very vulnerable target group. PACE is dedicated to the reduction of harm and abolition of conditions that lead to prostitution. We provide outreach, counselling, housing (for individuals under 24yrs of age), prevention presentations, and an IDU drop-in center for sex workers from the Downtown Eastside of Vancouver who have started their own cooperative business.

The SAS Surrey program is designed as an original self-help approach to recovery for female youth. The program provides sexually exploited females with secure housing and a lifeskills program (ASK Learning Centre). The ASK Learning Centre is designed to provide each participant with an opportunity to learn the personal and occupational skills required to help them obtain and maintain employment, return to school, and/or raise their children on a full-time basis.

The Women's Dew Program is an alternative to residential addiction treatment for women. It offers women the opportunity to build recovery skills that work while living at home. Women attend the program Monday through Thursday, usually between 10:00 am and 2:30 pm. Designed specifically to address women's recovery needs, the Women's Dew Program is offered in a group therapy setting that helps each participant connect with her own inner wisdom. Women in the group join together to support one another, discover their strengths, and recover the living skills that addiction takes away.
