This has become more apparent amongst drug users. Many sex trade workers and those persons hiring prostitutes have long been under the impression that unprotected oral sex is safe. Infection is a very long shot. This also the belief among both youth and the more mature engaging in casual sex. This is NOT TRUE! Street nurses inform us that Syphilis CAN BE easily transferred by the mouth and currently is on the rise. Unprotected Oral sex has become even more dangerous!

  • Cancer Society Scam Warning

Group purporting to be Canadian Cancer Society soliciting bank account information.
    By mySeniorSite Staff

The Canadian Cancer Society is warning donors about a fraudulent lottery scam supposedly representing the charity organization.

A group calling itself the World Cancer Society is using the Canadian Cancer Society name and stylized daffodil logo on their printed mail-outs. Some BC residents have received " award notification" letters in the mail saying they have been approved for a substantial lump sum payment. They are advised to keep it a secret and are offered a "start-up cheque" of $2520.00 with instructions to deposit it into their bank account. The next step is to contact an agent to process their claim who then asks for confidential banking information.

No charity group, legitimate organization or even a bank would do this. The Canadian Cancer Society reminds the public to pay close attention to the name they write on any cheque. Alan Courbould, regional manager for the BC/Yukon Division says "if the cheque is not made out to the Canadian Cancer Society, it's not us."

If you have been contacted by this scam, you are urged to contact police. If you have doubts about the legitimacy of anyone approaching you in this manner, contact the Canadian Cancer Society directly at 1-888-939-3333.
