Accommodations

The Bethlehem Retreat Centre has many features that render it the ideal setting for you and/or your group to enjoy. Situated in a wooded acreage in Nanaimo, Bethlehem looks out over Westwood Lake against the backdrop of Mt. Benson. There is a well-groomed path around the lake, swimming for those who like a morning dip, and trails up Mt. Benson for the more adventurous.

Thirty-five guest rooms are located in four settings at the Centre. There is also a chapel, library, and a garden labyrinth that hosts one of the few Peace Poles on Vancouver Island.

Nourishing the body/soul by sharing a meal is an essential part of any gathering at the Centre with food thoughtfully prepared by our culinary staff.

Large and small conference rooms are available for group retreats or workshops.

Chef Bert and Laurie can cater all your meals and keep your energy levels high with nutritional breaks and Kicking Horse coffee and assorted teas.

The Bodega Lodge is well equipped for your retreat with an LCD projector, flip charts, high-speed WiFi and dedicated phone/fax line at your disposal. A meeting room is available for work sessions. Should you want to incorporate team building exercises we would be pleased to coordinate a fishing charter, guided hike, yoga clinic or whatever else your group may request. Renewal using the 12 step program of AA supports continuing recovery whether a person is recovering from alcohol, drugs, food eating disorders or co-dependency. Spiritual renewal is crucial if a person wants to experience total freedom. True health encompasses all facets of a person and without an emotional and spiritual component, we have found that the body does not heal as well nor stay healthy very long.

It makes sense

Our bodies know how to heal themselves.  Often times what stops this natural process from occurring is our unhealthy attitudes and behaviors such as compulsive eating, overconsumption of alcohol and too much stress.   The mistake many people make in trying to heal themselves is only focusing on eliminating unhealthy behaviors.  While this is a crucial part of healing and recovery there are many other factors to be addressed.  The most common example of this mistake is in “Dieting."  Treatment of compulsive overeating cannot be achieved with diet alone.  The reasons for such compulsive behavior are deeply rooted.  Counseling and help from support groups such as overeating anonymous are essential for recovery.

Natural Detox

Our rejuvenation programs are also for those who want to experience a natural detox and a gluten free and casein free diet. For people who have been diagnosed with gluten or casein intolerance; this will give them the support, tools and recipes to live a healthy gluten free life.
