The Self Employment Program is a federal initiative supported by Human Resources Development Canada and is designed to assist potential entrepreneurs with start up, including income support through a SEP grant which is equivalent to the applicants insurance benefits or a flat rate of $300 a week whichever is greater, for an initial 40-week period.

Men and Women Reaching Independence through Employment) program is a gender specific,
six week, group facilitated employment program that is
NO COST to participants. It enables participants to recognize and overcome their barriers to employment, make informed and appropriate career choices, and obtain and maintain employment .
Since 1998 our programs have assisted those with multiple barriers to employment. Each office employs an
Addictions Counsellor, Anger Management Specialist, Personal Development Facilitator, Employment Counsellor and
Job Developer with the skills and expertise to identify, address and help resolve barriers to employment.
Clients with unique barriers may also be referred to the appropriate service program/agency. Clients learn both through workshops and one-to-one counselling.

Triumph Vocational Services
is a voluntary employment program for persons with disabilities who are interested in expanding their life and work skills and finding a job. Triumph offers Pre-Employment and Planning & Employment Services, which corresponds with each person’s vocational experience.
Triumph Vocational Services programs are offered jointly by WCG International HR Solutions and Back in Motion Rehabilitation. Our teams include Registered Rehabilitation Professionals, Vocational Coaches, Job Developers, Psychologists, Physical Therapists and Occupational Therapists.

 | One hundred authors and 12,000 readers converge for discussions and readings on Granville Island. Spreading the Word, VIWF's education program, offers programs for schools in French and English and free author visits and event tickets for inner city schools.

The Depot has 13 full-time and 7 part-time employees. By providing full refunds for bottles, it supports many poor people, and 'binners'. Project Accomplishments: recycled almost 25 million containers paid out over $1.75 million in refunds to mostly poor customers provided jobs to inner city residents who were previously receiving welfare created the Crossroads and Lanes Neighborhood Clean up Project, which is cleaning up the city by removing litter, and graffiti from the downtown core.

 | "Bridging barriers to learning" Victoria READ Society's Mission is to help students of all ages in the greater Victoria area learn basic academic skills through small classes, individualized help and a supportive, caring environment.

 | Now may be the time to start a small business Westcoast Community Enterprises, a Division of The Centre for Community Enterprise Inc. has been working to create healthier community economies since 1977. In collaboration with the Government of Canada, Westcoast has helped over 1000 enterprising people launch their own business.

 | We help people start successful businesses The program begins with a 10-week, full-time classroom session focusing on practical business plan development. A network of motivated people, office space and services, business launch support, and access to 15 internet-savvy computers is also provided. There is financial support for 48 weeks. Each participant must be willing to commit personal equity into the business as well.
