Job Function
Responsible for assisting the Manager, Volunteers and Gifts-In-Kind, in all administrative and operational aspects of the Volunteer Program, as well as with staff and volunteer giving. Also responsible for maintaining and continually improving administrative systems in the Volunteer department.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
· Respond to Volunteer/Gifts-In-Kind inquiries in a timely manner
· Send out volunteer packages
· Complete reference checks
· Update volunteer materials as needed
· Assist with events, i.e. volunteer appreciation
· Assist with recruitment and operation of thank-a-thons
· Prepare volunteer files for interview process
· Prepare volunteer packages for new volunteers
· Set up and provide ID badges
· Maintain the volunteer department Raiser’s Edge database
· Assist with volunteer workshops
· Monitor/update website volunteer page
· Act as a backup when manager is away
· Assist with the placement of volunteers in programs
· Maintain a list of current volunteer positions
· Update volunteer schedules
· Assist with volunteer orientation
· Other duties as required
Qualifications
· Diploma/degree in Volunteer Management or Grade 12 and working toward diploma/degree in Volunteer Management or combination of relevant education and experience.
· Minimum of 2 years experience in a Volunteer Services position
· Familiarity with all aspects of Volunteer Management, including trends and practices
· Proficient with Word, Excel, Outlook and Power point
· Experience with Raiser’s Edge Volunteer module preferred
· Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)
· Strong organizational skills, including the ability to effectively manage time and prioritize tasks
· Good interpersonal skills and positive attitude
· Detail oriented to ensure tasks are accurately completed
· Sound judgement and ability to maintain confidentiality
