“If nothing ever changed, there would be no butterflies."

Are you struggling with addictive behaviours or are you close to someone who is?

Individual counselling for any addiction gives you a chance to resolve your problems in a safe place. Addictive behaviours actually cover up unresolved feelings such as sadness, anger, resentment, and feelings of low self-worth. As we work together in therapy, we will uncover the deeper reasons for your unhealthy choices. You will then be able to eliminate your need to engage in destructive addictive behaviours.

Counselling will also help you become aware of the solutions that will work best for who you uniquely are. Our goal in therapy is to overcome problematic addictive patterns and help you make more positive life choices.

I provide therapy and counselling services for the Greater Vancouver area including Vancouver, Burnaby, Richmond, North Vancouver and West Vancouver. I also provide phone therapy for clients who are unable to attend sessions in person.

"I also provide Telephone Counselling worldwide."

Addiction Counselling Services
Kelowna, BC

Crossroads offers counselling and psychotherapy on an outpatient basis. Clients receive counselling around their addiction and underlying issues such as grief, abuse, trauma, and mental health. Family members looking for their own counselling around the impact of addiction and their own ability to draw boundaries have found benefit in this service as well.

Why Outpatient Addiction Counselling

• For some people, the option of going to residential treatment does not fit into their life.
• For others, outpatient addiction counselling will be enough for them to explore their addiction while continuing to function in their lives.
• Those coming to our 28-day residential program may wish to supplement their group treatment with individual counselling.
• Often times clients want to continue with one-on-one counselling after they leave residential treatment (whether here or somewhere else) as part of their aftercare.

Addiction Counselling Services

• Individual Counselling – one-on-one psychotherapy for adults struggling with addiction or in recovery.
• Family Counselling – helping couples and families heal from the impact of addiction
• Family Consultations – helping families determine how to help/manage a loved one with an addiction. (Usually a one time meeting with possible follow ups).
• Family Meetings – our version of an intervention where the addicted loved one is invited to the meeting.

Pre and Post Treatment Services

Recent research has overwhelming shown the importance of pre and post care treatment in the ongoing success of addiction recovery. EDGEWOOD is delighted to now offer on-going support pre and post treatment in the new EDGEWOOD Vancouver office located at 7th and Granville.

More than just a clinical office, EDGEWOOD Vancouver represents what we believe will be the next major innovation for EDGEWOOD’s modality of treating addiction. The combination of long term aftercare with built-in monitoring and consequences (therapeutic, not punitive), regular meetings to ensure adherence and 12 Step requirements have excellent sobriety results.

Pre-Care Program - is designed to assist both the family and patient in recognizing the disease of addiction and its attendant behaviors and to support them in their decision to seek treatment.

AfterCare Services - Maintaining a long-term, healthy recovery is an on-going process that requires support both within the family and from the community at large.

On-Going Services - As life in recovery progresses often secondary recovery issues surface. Recognizing this, Edgewood offers a continuum of personal services for as long as it takes.

Private Counselling & Day Treatment Programs

Welcome to a new way of providing Counselling & Treatment!

At Full Circle Healing each person is treated individually although when warranted, we do offer comfortable exceptions when including of some couple and family sessions. Doug Hilton RCC, program director, has over 18 years of experience treating people with various kinds of addictions including gambling, traumas, mental health conditions (dual diagnosis), as well as chronic health and pain conditions.

Our Programs – With an emphasis on balance, we offer real choices and opportunities unique to Full Circle Healing.  As well as the traditional on site counselling we extend our services to include special treatment programs developed to stand on their own as well as to complement full service private treatment centre programs.

Unique to Full Circle Healing and the first in BC, both private counselling and treatment services provide for specialized housing for those clients who need or prefer some healing and growing time away from the home of origin.  Each allows for a full work or education schedule as well as time for recreation and fun. The frequency and intensity of the sessions that are offered are flexible, depending on what each client needs and can handle at the time.

For the Home and Workplace – We start with a professional assessment for each client allowing us to determine the best individual program along with new strategies and personal goals.  It is important to know that Confidentiality and Safety is assured as well as the value of one-on-one counselling only.  (Not everyone wants to share their personal struggles with a roomful of strangers.)

When invited and considering the needs and conditions of the home and workplace, we offer a fully accountable and comprehensive combination of services to ensure the best outcome for each client.  We realize the full value of the home and workplace in healing and recovery and with permission, we encourage additional participation by the family members as well as the appropriate others in the workplace.

In Addition – We are proud to offer each client the opportunity to benefit from worthwhile and potentially life-changing specialties such as Meditation, Hypnosis & Self Hypnosis Training plus EMDR.  These and more are examples of what we offer are much more about healing and personal training in preparation for the journey of recovery.

Michele’s clients come from a wide variety of cultures from within the home and the workplace. Michele is particularly proud of her years of success working with First Nations people.

Her counselling design, which transcends the usual approaches in therapy, is to help each client access solutions through a proven 2-step formula. The benefits of her methods are well documented in the scientific research.

Change your thinking…change your life..

Jackie Maclean MH. CHt

Welcome to The Power Within Hypnotherapy…

What Is Hypnosis?

There is nothing "magical" about hypnosis; Hypnosis is simply an altered state and happens when you are relaxed… almost daydreaming. It is merely a relaxed state of focused attention. By temporarily bypassing your conscious mind, your critical faculties are suspended and you are now open to accepting suggestions. When suggestions are accepted at a subconscious level, you are empowered to make behavioural changes at a deeper level than when you attempt to make changes at the conscious/intellectual level.

How Does Hypnosis Differ from Meditation?

Meditation is a discipline that takes steady practice over a long period of time. The practice involves clearing one’s mind over long periods of time by allowing thoughts to pass by while focusing on a point, a mantra, or some other focus. Often breathing exercises accompany this practice.

A goal of meditation is to detach from your thoughts, and to experience a deep awareness that your thoughts are not you.

One important thing to know about meditation is that it is "content-less." There is no goal aside from the meditation itself. It can lead to many health benefits, including stress relief and peace of mind, but it is not goal-driven.

Hypnosis, on the other hand, is a state of focused attention where the conscious mind is distracted so that work can be done with the subconscious mind directly.

In short, the difference between hypnosis and meditation is that they both bridge the subconscious / conscious interface, with meditation being without content and not goal-driven, while hypnosis has content and is goal-driven.

“Hypnosis helps a person create the behaviours
that lead to the goals they set for themselves."

VCCC provides counselling services with consideration for a person's income. Clients may have their services covered by an Extended Health Care Plan or Employee Assistance Program. Check with your employer's Human Resources department to find out more.

Confidential
Counselling can be a personal and emotional journey, but only if a foundation of trust and confidentiality is there first. For many of our clients, this is a unique opportunity to grow and change. At VCCC, we make sure we match you with a caring, supportive counsellor to make that journey as rewarding as possible.
