Bethlehem Retreat Centre welcomes people from the local and surrounding communities as well as those who come from a distance. Benedictine values and beliefs about humanity, healing, spirituality and peace are given expression through this hospitality and presence at the Retreat Centre.

Bethlehem welcomes people from all walks of life – individuals walking a spiritual path founded in the tradition of their choice, church or other groups providing “time away” for their members, non-profit organizations in need of meeting space.

Accommodations

The Bethlehem Retreat Centre has many features that render it the ideal setting for you and/or your group to enjoy. Situated in a wooded acreage in Nanaimo, Bethlehem looks out over Westwood Lake against the backdrop of Mt. Benson. There is a well-groomed path around the lake, swimming for those who like a morning dip, and trails up Mt. Benson for the more adventurous.

Thirty-five guest rooms are located in four settings at the Centre. There is also a chapel, library, and a garden labyrinth that hosts one of the few Peace Poles on Vancouver Island.

Nourishing the body/soul by sharing a meal is an essential part of any gathering at the Centre with food thoughtfully prepared by our culinary staff.

Large and small conference rooms are available for group retreats or workshops.

Hungry? We have a certified master chef on staff that prepares tantalizing meals using as many Galiano-grown ingredients as possible in a fresh West Coast style. Chef Bert and Laurie can cater all your meals and keep your energy levels high with nutritional breaks and Kicking Horse coffee and assorted teas.

The Bodega Lodge is well equipped for your retreat with an LCD projector, flip charts, high-speed WiFi and dedicated phone/fax line at your disposal. A meeting room is available for work sessions. Should you want to incorporate team building exercises we would be pleased to coordinate a fishing charter, guided hike, yoga clinic or whatever else your group may request. Reiki

At Queenswood, Reiki is taught from the Christian perspective, but open to all traditions. Our Reiki programs take participants through an experiential journey of healing, where people become more open to being channels through which God’s healing flows. Reiki brings one into the holistic journey of healing, addressing physical, psychological, emotional, and spiritual healing. It’s a gift for healing one’s self as well as others.
