Voices and Faces of Recovery

Overcoming the stigma of addiction

"The Good News of Recovery"

The terrible fact is addiction costs lives both by the level of living and in death. Here we are attempting to improve the public awareness of the scientific realities of addiction and encourage those suffering to seek help early in their illness when it is most treatable.

With so much of the typical response or reaction it is the fear of being labelled an addict that keeps so many addicted people from coming out and seeking help.  So many are afraid of the response of the public like when applying for a job or meeting that new person.

We wish to show the world that recovery is not just good news, but great news.  It’s not just something we need to do but should rejoice in the shaping of the person we were meant to be.  We need to tell everyone “Thank God it’s not a fix but a wonderful journey with each day a new discovery.

Recovery can also be hard, we all know that.  But so is the work of a professional athlete or winner in the workplace.  It becomes a passion and the rewards are plenty and none of them got there alone.  There were mentors, coaches, counsellors, leaders and best of all, those that went before them who set the example.
